Hyderabad: Ministers Konda Surekha and Ponnam Prabhakar, along with Congress MLAs representing the Backward Classes, are set to travel to New Delhi on Tuesday evening to take part in a Maha Dharna. This demonstration is planned in the national capital on April 2 to advocate for a 42 per cent reservation for Backward Classes.

The BC Welfare Organisations from Telangana are organising this Maha Dharna in response to a bill passed by the Telangana Legislative Assembly, which seeks to raise the BC reservations to 42 per cent and urges that the legislation be approved by Parliament.

Top leaders from the All India Congress Committee, including Rahul Gandhi, as well as opposition leaders, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, and TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, are expected to join the Maha Dharna to show their support for the BC leaders.

Moreover, on April 2 and 3, the BC Ministers and MLAs will convene with Union Ministers and representatives from various political parties to go over the particulars of the caste survey carried out by Telangana and to advocate for their support of legislation aimed at raising the reservations for BCs to 42 per cent
